Abby Cook
Abby is a shepherdess and farming consultant.
A second generation farmer, Abby grew up on a beef and arable estate managed by her parents in Hampshire. She now works as a self-employed agricultural consultant supporting farming businesses, and runs a flock of pasture-fed pure Herdwick sheep. The sheep are reared to sell as breeding stock, and as hogget in direct-to-customer meat boxes.
Abby moved to Cirencester to study for a BSc in Agriculture and Animal Management at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU). Prior to that, she completed a year of Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. Realising her true passion lay in agriculture, particularly the red meat sector, she transferred to complete her studies at the RAU. After graduating, she worked as a farm business consultant for a dairy consultancy for seven years. Her current role combines both theoretical and practical elements.
